Parkway 100

Important Anniversaries

This was one for the history books. The day-long centennial event was developed in partnership with the Parkway Council, Parkway Museums District, City of Philadelphia’s Department of Parks and Recreation, and was sponsored by the Philadelphia Inquirer and 6ABC. The expansive festival featured 100 free activities and performances as part of a wide-ranging, family-friendly cultural crawl.

Indie-Life was responsible for the event’s entertainment. We worked closely with the client to develop programming for the festival’s main stage at Eakins Oval. Besides curating live acts and the headliner, we worked within tight parameters to provide a cost-effective audio and lighting package that had to wow the 30,000 festival revelers.

Start to Finish

As a tribute to the many parades held on the Parkway each year, Indie-Life produced interactive mini-parades throughout the event, including a brazilian drumline that ran every 30 minutes. Participants paraded around Eakins Oval and to help capture the memories, Indie-Life provided an interactive photo booth that allowed festival goers to take their pictures home.

We know that the closing event can make or break a day-long festival, so we lined up some of our favorites. The festival ended with an exhilarating live performance by Worldtown Soundsystem and Philly house music legend Lady Alma at the Eakins Oval.

Civic Pride

Normally the Parkway is used as a passthrough on the way to see other Philly sights, but its centennial deserved a special event activation. Indie-Life worked hand-in-hand with the Parkway Council to create a dynamic and exceptional “sense of place” through programming that highlights our city’s cultural and educational institutions.

See you in another 100 years.
